According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, former NXT Champion Sami Zayn may be injured and out-of-action for now. Zayn isn’t the only top NXT star incapacitated due to injury, as current NXT Champion Kevin Owens is also on the sidelines with a knee injury.
Zayn was advertised for both NXT live events in Ohio in March, but he did not compete during either. Instead, Zayn cut promos in the ring to honor the previous advertisements.
In fact, Zayn has not competed since the weekend of Feb. 20, where he performed with Rhyno on Feb. 18, and with Tyler Breeze at a Live Event on Feb. 20. While it is unsure of what the injury is, or when it happened, it should be noted that Zayn has not wrestled in almost a month, which leads to the further speculation of said injury.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter wrote the following about a recent NXT Live Event, acknowledging that Zayn is out and injured, saying,
“The NXT shows this weekend didn’t feature most of the top tier guys since both Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are hurt, Adrian Neville was on the road with WWE (although he did lose to Baron Corbin in the main event on a Thursday night show in Largo, FL), Tyler Breeze and Sasha Banks were also on the road with WWE, and for whatever reason, Finn Balor and Charlotte weren’t booked.”
WrestlingRumors.net will continue to update you on this story as more details emerge.
Editor’s Note:
The top two NXT guys are out? That can’t be good for their presence during ‘Mania season.
