WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper claims WWE asked him to get in ring shape for WrestleMania XXX. Piper seemingly confirmed previously reported rumors that state Piper and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan were asked to compete at WrestleMania XXX while appearing on the Steve Austin Show.
Piper recently joined WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s podcast, and part two of their conversation was released on Jan. 21. It was on this edition of the program that Piper confirmed that WWE has indeed reached out to both himself and Hogan, asking them to get in shape for a match.
Piper reveals this information after Austin asks him if the rumors circling the internet were true. PWInsider.com transcribed Pipers comments, and he said,
“This is Wrestlemania 30. I’ve pinned Hogan once and he’s never pinned me. From a fan’s perspective, and WWE Universe and Vince, it never had closure. The business that would be done…the interviews and stuff would be coming from the heart. We could try to outraise the bar of the WWE entertainment machine in our sport, if they let us go toe to toe and don’t script us. The fans will see really how it got started and why, and then they’ll see the conclusion. They are asking can I get in shape. I am already in shape!. They are asking Hogan.. But there is a fear, I guess, of whether we can pull off the performance.”
As previously reported, Hogan has confirmed that he will be “working” WrestleMania XXX on April 6 in New Orleans. Creative plans have been finalized to bring him back onto WWE television. One can only assume that if Piper will be returning as well, that creative ideas for his return have also been set in stone.
