During a “Q&A” panel at the Mid-Atlantic Legends Fanfest in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 31, former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam talks about his relationship with WWE, his plans to return, and more. As previously noted, Van Dam has a unique relationship with the company, where he can come in and work 90 days or so, then be gone for a certain amount of time.
PWInsider.com reports that “The Whole F’n Show” is claiming that he is currently between WWE contracts. When asked about working for another company like TNA or Ring of Honor, he said that working for other major promotions would breach his deal with WWE, which he doesn’t want to do.
He currently maintains a merchandise deal with WWE, and plans to return to in-ring action for the company in the future. However, he also said he doesn’t want to rush back.
When talking about the future of his in-ring career, he discussed possibly doing a “retirement” tour of sorts, stating that he will compete until he feels he needs to stop, which may not be “too far off.”
Van Dam’s last WWE match was during a post-“SummerSlam” set of “Smackdown” tapings on Aug. 26, 2014. He was defeated by Seth Rollins.
Editor’s Note:
I’ll always pop for Van Dam. Come on back, sir!
