New reports claim that Rob Van Dam is set to return to WWE television very soon. According to PWInsider.com, Van Dam was backstage discussing his upcoming return with Triple H during the Feb. 10 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” which was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
Van Dam is expected to return to the company very soon, just after he passes all of the company’s physical testing that is required of all talent contracted by WWE. According to multiple reports, WWE officials want to have Van Dam work WrestleMania XXX, Extreme Rules, Payback, and possibly Money In The Bank, but none of these reports have been confirmed. Working from March/April to June 29 would have Van Dam working more than 90 days, so take this news with a grain of salt.
RVD has teased his return himself however. The former WWE Champion shared some insight into his upcoming return with Rehan Amjed, who recorded the conversation. Van Dam clearly states in the interview that he is “off contract” currently with the company, but will be returning with an undefined “short” contract soon.
Amjed submitted his audio interview with Van Dam to WrestlingInc.com, who posted the clip on Tuesday, Jan. 14. ”The Whole F’n Show” notes in the clip that his new contract may or may not be for a 90 day return, but that he will competing again for World Wrestling Entertainment.
Van Dam says,
“I’m off contract, then I’ll go back and do another short contract.”
Amjed then asks the former champion if it will be for 90 days, and Van Dam says,
“…well maybe, maybe not. The last one just happened to be 90 days, that’s just what we worked out.”
Van Dam last appeared for the company in October of 2013, losing to Alberto Del Rio at the inaugural “WWE Battleground” PPV.
