Further news regarding former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio has hit the web. A new report from F4Wonline.com has confirmed that Del Rio will be appearing for Mexico’s AAA wrestling promotion on Sunday, Aug. 17, the same day as WWE “SummerSlam.”

F4Wonline.com claims that Joaquin Roldan of AAA confirmed on Aug. 11 that Del Rio will be at AAA’s “TripleMania” iPPV event on Aug. 17. The event will take place at the Arena Ciudad in Mexico City. Roldan did not comment on what role Del Rio will play, but the former champion has only been gone from WWE for a total of 5 days, and there was likely a “90 day No Compete” clause in Del Rio’s WWE deal.

While this means Del Rio cannot compete during the event in fear of breach of contract, one must assume that Del Rio will simply be there for an appearance. He may tease a future involvement with the company, but can not announce that he’s signed a deal with AAA, and cannot compete, if he is in fact under a “90 day No Compete” agreement with WWE.

Del Rio was released from WWE on Aug. 6 due to an altercation with an employee during the Aug. 5 “Smackdown” tapings. Rumor also has it that recently released WWE star and former “personal ring announcer” for Del Rio, Ricardo Rodriguez, will also be in attendance for the event.
