A new look for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship may have been revealed on Aug. 6. A photo featuring WWE COO Triple H holding the title, which features the new “soon-to-be applied to everything” WWE logo, leaked onto Twitter early morning on Aug. 6.
The photo, which you can view below, features Triple H and Stephanie McMahon on set for a photo shoot, likely for the upcoming reveal of the new championship belt. As previously reported, the new WWE logo is set to begin appearing on everything the company produces as of “SummerSlam” on Aug. 17.
Along with the logo, it has been reported that the company will be unveiling new championship belts across the board, meaning new NXT, Tag Team, Divas, Intercontinental, and WWE World Heavyweight Championship straps. While the WWE World Heavyweight Champion currently carries two titles, it is said that the “Big Gold Belt,” which was used as the World Heavyweight title, is expected to be retired as the new belt debuts.
In related news, the new WWE logo is now attached to transfer trailers for the company, as some that were parked outside of the Laredo Energy Arena during the Aug. 5 “Smackdown” tapings featured the new brand on them. Mysteriously enough, the trailers also featured a new day for “Smackdown,” stating that the program will be airing on Thursdays on SyFy at 8 p.m. ET.
Another sign that WWE is getting ready to debut another title is that they are selling both the “Big Gold Belt” and current WWE Championship replica belts on WWEShop.com at a discount. This is something they usually do before debuting a new strap.
The photo of the soon-to-debut WWE World Heavyweight Championship, if this photo is in fact not doctored in any way, can be seen below. Note: It seems as if the new belt does not have “Champion” on a plate underneath the new logo.
Editor’s Note:
We all saw this coming. The new title is just the one they debuted a year ago, just with the new logo. Gotta keep the changeable plates on the sides. That leads to further marketing, especially with toys.
