The original WrestleMania plans for Vince McMahon and The Authority have been changed. As we previously reported, the initial idea for WrestleMania XXX was to have Vince McMahon and Triple H fight for control of the company, but a new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that these plans were scrapped a few months ago.
When The Authority began appearing in that role on WWE programming during the Summer of 2013, WWE Creative had planned on using the friction that they had established between Vince McMahon and Triple H to create a program that would last until WrestleMania XXX. The two fought over how General Managers should handle talent, if Triple H should compete in the ring, and generally disagreed on everything. This was to set up the program.
Soon after this began, McMahon was taken off of WWE television. Stephanie McMahon was then being announced as “one of the owners of the company,” but that too has ceased. The plans originally had Vince McMahon returning around the “Royal Rumble” PPV to take back complete control of his company, which was “spiraling” in one direction at the hands of an arrogant “Authority.”
Apparently, McMahon would have had a “hired gun” like John Cena, Daniel Bryan, The Rock, or Batista come in as his representative and he would have faced Triple H on April 6 in New Orleans. The winner would have total control, and McMahon would have set “everything right” within the WWE Universe.
Triple H is now set to face Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania XXX, and there has been zero talk of having Vince McMahon appear on the program at all.
