The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided some news regarding the 2014 “Money In The Bank” PPV. According to the report, the event will feature only one multi-person Money in the Bank Ladder Match for a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
With the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships unified, the current plan is to have only one Money in the Bank Ladder Match on June 29. While the company could easily throw in a second Ladder Match in relation to the Intercontinental Championship, that is not on the card at the moment.
The front-runner for winning the 2014 Money in the Bank briefcase is the King of Swing, Cesaro. While the report states that as of now, no victor has been set in stone, Cesaro is the guy that everyone is talking about behind-the-scenes as if he will soon be the No. 3 babyface in the company behind John Cena and Daniel Bryan.
While Cesaro is rumored to be facing Brock Lesnar at “SummerSlam” in August, if he does win the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, he is expected to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship whenever he cashes his briefcase in. The company wants to build him into a major player, and they likely will not allow someone getting a monster push to cash-in and lose, i.e. Damien Sandow in 2013.
Bryan is also penciled in to face Kane in a Buried Alive Match during the “Money In The Bank” PPV. However, if he is not ready to compete by June 29, the match will be pushed to the July 20 “Battleground” event.
Editor’s Note:
I’d love to see an Intercontinental Championship Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Would go a long way towards making that title seem relevant again.
