New reports claim John Cena is not legitimately injured. As we previously reported, Cena “suffered a knee injury” during the Feb. 24 edition of “Monday Night Raw” during a segment with the Wyatt Family. WrestlingRumors.net questioned the validity of the “injury” due to the over-exposure of it on WWE television Monday night, as well as Cena “refusing an MRI” on it. Just as we presumed, the “injury” has been confirmed as nothing more than an angle by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
During the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio with Bryan Alvarez, Meltzer states that Cena’s knee injury is nothing more than a work. The angle was carried out in order to build the tension between Cena and Bray Wyatt, as they are scheduled to face off at WrestleMania XXX on April 6 in New Orleans. Meltzer claims the injury angle, which saw Cena get taken out on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance, was also done to explain why Cena didn’t run down to the ring and confront Wyatt during his main event match with Shield member Roman Reigns.
John Cena is still expected to “rise above hate and knee issues” in classic Superman style to face Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania XXX.
