The May 26 edition of “Monday Night Raw” is expected to be Batista’s last for a while. A new report from F4Wonline.com claims that Batista is expected to be away from the company following “Payback” on June 1, and that the May 26 “RAW” appearance would be his final one for the time being.
As previously reported, Batista will be taking the next few months off from WWE action. “The Animal” will be doing media promotions for his upcoming Summer blockbuster film, “Guardians of the Galaxy.” With this film being a Marvel picture, promoting the movie will take a lot of Batista’s time and schedule, which is why he will be away from active competition until late Summer-early Fall.
That is, if Batista returns. Multiple reports claim that Batista is not happy with his current situation within the company, and does not like being employed with WWE at the moment. Although he does have around a year-and-a-half left on his contract, Batista could pull a “CM Punk” and sit out the rest of his dates if he so pleases.
Others believe that Batista will be back in time for “SummerSlam,” or at least “Night of Champions,” which the company will be booking as if it were a WrestleMania card. “Night of Champions” will be the first WWE PPV following the first six months of WWE Network subscriptions, meaning those that currently subscribe to the WWE Network will no longer be locked into their agreement and would need to re-subscribe for the over-the-top service to watch the Sept. PPV.
Knowing that they’ll need to make “Night of Champions” as big as possible so that they can keep as many WWE Network subscribers as possible, WWE is expected to stack the PPV card with big names. Brock Lesnar is someone already rumored to be appearing during the event in a match, and Batista is another.
Editor’s Note:
Batista will be back. I don’t think the reports of him “not being happy” are very accurate. I’m sure he is fine with doing what he’s doing and getting paid for it. Plus, he just got back into a rhythm and is performing well in the ring again.
