Many backstage believe the release of Justin Roberts is a mistake on behalf of World Wrestling Entertainment. Roberts was released on Oct. 13 just minutes after the conclusion of “Monday Night Raw,” and a the news shocked the wrestling world.

Roberts was with WWE for 12 years and had worked his way up from announcing for “ECW,” to stepping in to the lead ring announcer position for “Monday Night Raw.” The 34-year-old Arizona native was very well liked behind-the-curtain, and was very passionate about his position in the company.

In interviews, publications, and podcasts, Roberts constantly reminded fans about how much he loves the wrestling business and working for WWE. Many employees of the company believe the decision to “not renew” Roberts’ contract, which expired this week, was the wrong one made by WWE.

WWE Hall of Famers like Jim Ross were shocked to find out Roberts had been let go. Ross claimed that Roberts was a bright, classy guy that will surely find work somewhere else soon because of his professionalism and talent. Many others took to Twitter to respond to the report after the news broke on WWE.com.

Most believe something must have happened behind-the-scenes that would cause WWE to not want to keep Roberts on their payroll. Although WWE.com does have a link to the report claiming Roberts has been released, unless sent to that link directly, it is nowhere to be found on the website. There are no mentions of the news on the homepage, and nothing linking to the news on Roberts’ superstar page, which was moved to the “Alumni” section of the site during the final segment of “RAW.”

While some backstage believe this is merely a mistake and Roberts cannot really be gone, some believe he must have said or done something to offend someone else higher up on the totem pole. Otherwise, he’d still be announcing “Jjjjjjjoooohhnnnn….CEEEEEEEEEEEnnnnnnnnnAAAAAAA!” to the ring at WWE events on a regular basis.

Editor’s Note:
Still baffling that the company would let Roberts go. Seemed to be a team player that loved wrestling AND definitely loved his job. WrestlingRumors.net will keep you updated on this story as soon as more details regarding his release are made available.
