According to WWE, at least two championship matches will be held inside of the Elimination Chamber on May 31. As previously noted, WWE will be holding an additional Pay-Per-View event, WWE “Elimination Chamber,” exclusive only to the WWE Network on May 31.
The event was announced during the May 11 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” surprising fans “out of nowhere” with an additional PPV event for the month. Initially, it was reported that “Elimination Chamber” would not be held in 2015, due to arena constraints and the weight of the chamber itself.
However, with the “Elimination Chamber” event taking place in Corpus Christi, Texas in just two-weeks, the company has to begin promoting matches for the show. On WWE.com, it has been revealed that at least the WWE Tag Team Championship and the newly vacated Intercontinental Championship will be on-the-line inside of the extremely unforgiving structure.
The United States Championship and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship will also be defended on the program, but will likely take place outside of the chamber itself. WWE will be holding a Live Event in Greenville, South Carolina on the same day as “Elimination Chamber” at 1 p.m. ET, meaning that at least half of the roster will have to fly from South Carolina immediately to the arena in Texas for the PPV.
“Elimination Chamber” will air live on the WWE Network at 8 p.m. ET on May 31.
Editor’s Note:
The IC title match should be awesome. Sheamus, Ziggler, Neville, Barrett, and likely Ambrose and one other superstar should make up the chamber/pods for that bout. The tag team bout for the titles will DEFINITELY be interesting and fun to watch. Maybe Natalya gets thrown in the mix to even the score?
