Hideo Itami Reportedly Set to Return Around October
NXT superstar Hideo Itami is reportedly set to return to in-ring competition around October. As previously reported, Itami suffered a shoulder injury in May that required immediate surgery, leaving him incapable of working matches for at least six-to-eight months.
Itami himself is the one that claims he’ll be back around October, saying that he will be back in the ring in three-to-four months, putting him back in action around late October-early November. Itami gave this report during a promo recorded during the June 18 “NXT” tapings at Full Sail University, which will air sometime over the next four weeks on the WWE Network.
Itami also revealed that he would be appearing during the WWE Network Special on July 4, which will broadcast live from Tokyo, Japan. During that event, NXT Champion Kevin Owens will defend his title against No. 1 Contender Finn Bálor. Itami states that he will be present during the event, and that he’ll be watching the Owens vs. Bálor match closely, as he wants the winner of that bout in a championship match whenever he is physically able to return.
Itami was not the only one to reveal his status and estimated time of return during the June 18 tapings, as former NXT Champion Sami Zayn also revealed when he expects to return to competition. Zayn is reportedly out for the rest of 2015 and should return “better than ever” the following year.
