New reports claim that Christian’s recent concussion has added more fuel to the rumors of his retirement from professional wrestling coming much sooner than later. As we previously reported, the general feeling backstage is that Christian would not be re-signing with WWE in a few months when his contract expires, and after suffering a minor concussion on “Monday Night Raw,” it seems like Christian bowing out soon is almost a guarantee.

The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that backstage, many believe that Christian will definitely be gone soon, especially following the concussion he suffered on March 24. He suffered the slight concussion during the Intercontinental Championship Number One Contender Fatal 4 Way Match with Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, and Dolph Ziggler. This being the second concussion Christian has suffered in a one-year period, it looks like the writing may be on the wall for Captain Charisma.

Rumors have existed for a while, as we reported, that claim Christian has been eyeing retirement for a while. He’s a father now, he’s 40, he keeps getting injured, and WWE Creative has had nothing really for him in a very long time. With the rumors becoming more actual conversations backstage following his latest concussion, the thought in the back is that Christian would make a perfect trainer/coach for NXT, and he already lives in Florida.

Editor’s Note
It may be time for Christian to hang up his boots. It seems like the poor guy just can’t catch a break. He’s consistently good in the ring, he just gets hurt a lot, and is lost in the vast amount of mid-carders the WWE has right now. He would indeed be a perfect coach/trainer for upcoming WWE superstars in the NXT developmental territory though IMO. Very talented guy that just isn’t quite main event caliber. He would be one that I would throw in as a coach for developing new Tag Teams for the WWE. Excellent tag team competitor with a great mind for the business, and we ALL know WWE needs to build better tag teams for the future.
