New reports have provided a look at some backstage thoughts on WWE possibly inducting Owen Hart into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016 in Dallas, Texas. As previously noted, the company will be releasing their first-ever produced documentary on the late superstar in late 2015, and would like to announce his induction around the time of the DVD/Blu-Ray’s release.
However, Hart’s widow Martha is not in support of WWE releasing the documentary. She is reportedly still not behind the company inducting Hart into the WWE Hall of Fame either.
According to Dave Meltzer of F4Wonline.com and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Hart’s widow has been down about WWE using any material relating to Owen in any fashion for their benefit. Hart died tragically while prepping for an entrance from the rafters during the 1999 Pay-Per-View “Over the Edge.”
Hart’s widow Martha has been at odds with the company since her husbands untimely and unnecessary death, even going as far as taking legal action out against WWE. With Marth not on board with WWE’s inclusion of Hart in the Hall of Fame or the documentary, many backstage feel like his induction would not be worth the controversy Martha may stir up if the company persists.
Editor’s Note:
While I’d love to see Hart in the WWE HOF, and I’m jones’ing to see the DVD, the officials in the back are probably right. The controversy would be unnecessary, unless they believe it would get more people to tune into the program DUE to said controversy.
