The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided some backstage news on the rise of Renee Young in WWE. Young, who has been with the company since 2012, has moved up the ranks from backstage interview, to commentator.

It was announced on July 3 that Young would now be a commentator for “WWE Superstars,” making her the first full-time female announcer in more than 10 years. Young has also replaced former WWE Pre Show host Josh Mathews, who was recently released from the company. While budget cuts were the reason for Mathews release, they are also the reason why WWE Pre Shows are shot in the WWE studios. The pre shows that will air live in the arenas, if any more are had before PPVs in this format, will be hosted by Young.

According to discussions backstage, many believe that Young will eventually begin announcing on “Smackdown,” possibly even “Monday Night Raw” at some point. The reports also state that Young is a wrestling person deep down and wants to grow within the company.

When discussing whether or not she had any interest in leaving WWE for ESPN any time soon, she has given the impression that she wants to be in WWE.

Editor’s Note:
I love Renee Young. She has a nice presence about her. It’s always awesome when she interacts with Paul Heyman too. Always.
