It’s quite an honor. People magazine is reporting that Stacy Keibler will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2023. She will join Rey Mysterio, The Great Muta, and late comedian Andy Kaufman as those who have been announced so far.
People caught up with Keibler regarding the honor; below are some highlights from the interview:
On receiving the call:
“I never thought I would be in the Hall of Fame, to be honest,” she tells PEOPLE. “I was completely shocked when I got the call. I had tears in my eyes.” Keibler said she found out when she received an unexpected call from a WWE representative two weeks ago while home in her kitchen. “When she told me, I screamed, and tears were in my eyes, and I was completely overwhelmed with just gratefulness,” Keibler recalls.
On why she decided to become a professional wrestler:
“I would go to every show within a three-hour drive from Baltimore,” she says. “I drove to Philly, and I drove to New York, I drove to D.C. I was in the stands wearing my NWO shirts and holding my posters.”
On what she has been up to recently:
“I’ve entered into another chapter of being a mom, and anyone with three kids knows that that’s a juggling act, and it’s my full-time job,” she says of raising her family. “So I have taken a step back to focus on putting my heart and soul into that,” she continues. “Now because I’ve been a performer since the age of seven, of course, it’s also in my heart, but it’s just something that I’ve kind of taken a backseat to that, focusing on something else.”
Keibler also discusses who will be joining her at the ceremony, her connection with her fans, and more.
