The injury bug cannot seem to escape WWE.
“Neville sustained a left ankle injury on a baseball slide during his match with Chris Jericho,” Dr. Chris Amann told WWE.com. “Initial X-rays reveal a fracture of the ankle. He will undergo further imaging today to determine the extent of the fracture and to determine if surgery will be necessary.”
During the match, “The Man That Gravity Forgot” seemed to land on his ankle awkwardly while performing a baseball slide on Y2J. You can see that at about the 7-second mark of this video:
WWE has also released this video, which shows Neville being prepped to head to the emergency room:
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Neville suffered a broken shinbone and ankle. His recovery timeline is unknown at this point, but it is likely that he will miss WrestleMania 32.
Neville’s injury adds to the lengthy list of superstars who have been sidelined recently. Although Sheamus has returned from his recent injury, John Cena, Seth Rollins and Randy Orton are all still on the shelf.
Editor’s Note:
This could not come at a worse time for Neville. With WrestleMania right around the corner, I have no doubts that he would have been on the card. Most likely as a participant in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, but you never know. We at Wrestling Rumors wish Neville the speediest of recoveries.
