Angle was a member of the WWE roster from 1998-2006. During that time, he was a four-time WWE Champion, a World Heavyweight Champion and also held the WCW, United States, Hardcore, Intercontinental and World Tag Team Championships.
Triple H had the following to say about Angle’s accomplishments in the company:
“Kurt Angle’s accomplishments both in the Olympics and WWE were extraordinary. He was one of the most gifted athletes to ever enter the ring, and we are honored to welcome him into the WWE Hall of Fame.”
However, Angle’s initial fame came after winning the gold medal in the 90–100 kg; 198–220 lb. weight class in wrestling at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. He managed to accomplish this feat despite the fact that he sustained a severe neck injury, fracturing two of his cervical vertebrae.
It is unknown at this time if he will be competing in the “Royal Rumble” match this year.
