WWE superstar Corey Graves recently took to social media and posted a series of messages on X expressing his displeasure with recent company decisions.
Since Raw debuted on Netflix a couple of weeks ago, the commentary team has been shaken up. Michael Cole and Pat McAfee are the announcers on Raw, with Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett being on Smackdown. This sent Graves to NXT, where he would be the third member of the team behind Vic Joseph and Booker T.
Graves posted the following on X, which has since been deleted:
“Imagine chasing your dream. Then being TOLD (not deciding) that you’re no longer physically able to pursue your dream. Then you dedicate your life to something “dream adjacent” and being pretty f***ing awesome at it. And then, when it’s time to enjoy the fruits of your labor, being told you’re not famous enough for your own job. Just in case you’ve wondered where I’ve been.”
Graves was not on NXT on Tuesday night. It is unclear whether his expressing his views had anything to do with it.
According to a report from PWInsider, his remarks were genuine and reflected the private frustrations that he had been expressing over the past week after working the NXT New Year’s Evil broadcast.
We will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as we know them.
Editor’s Opinion:
I get where he is coming from. He has worked his tail off after an injury in his career and made a name for himself as one of WWE’s lead commentators. To suddenly have that taken away has got to be very frustrating. That being said, unless this is work, expressing things like this on social media and airing your dirty laundry can never be a good thing. We will see where this goes, but I hope we continue to see him in the company for a long time.
