You can’t do that. Drew McIntyre won the men’s ladder match last night at the 2024 Money in the Bank PLE and grabbed the briefcase hanging above the ring. This guaranteed him an opportunity at a world heavyweight championship match at any time within a calendar year.

McIntyre would not wait long to cash in, as later in the evening, he would insert himself in the world heavyweight championship match between Damian Priest and Seth Rollins, making it a triple threat match. Just as it seemed that McIntyre would regain the championship that he lost in 5 minutes at WrestleMania 40, CM Punk would make his return, after being taken out of action by the Scottish Warrior.

Punk would go on to attack McIntyre viciously, including hitting him repeatedly with a chair. This would cause him to have enough pain inflicted, that he would lose the match and fail to win a championship after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract.

McIntyre would lose his mind during the post-show event, interrupting the broadcast, attacking referees and officials, including Adam Pearce, and causing Jackie Redmond to be in harm’s way.

As a result of both Punk and McIntyre’s actions last night, Adam Pearce took to social media to say that he was fining both Punk and McIntyre and suspending McIntyre for an indefinite amount of time.

Editor’s Opinion:

This is an interesting direction to go with this story, but one that makes sense. Any official in any other sport would do the same with superstars who interfered during an official contest or exhibited inappropriate behavior. What I love more about this is that the story has another element added to it in Seth Rollins, who can no longer challenge for the championship while Priest is the champion. I can’t wait to see where they go from here and how this story will progress going into Summerslam!
