It was reported on Wednesday that NXT trainee Nhooph Al-Areebi (now known as Jasmin in developmental) had made racist and offensive remarks on her Twitter account back when she was a teenager.
This came on the heels of Zahra Schreiber being released by World Wrestling Entertainment after similar racist comments and photos of hers were found on social media from years ago.
WWE has made the following statement concerning Areebi, per PWInsider.com:
“WWE conducted a thorough investigation and has determined that Nhooph Al-Areebi’s (aka Jasmin) Twitter account was used without her knowledge when she was 16 and 17 years old. Jasmin remains apologetic for any offensive remarks that were made.”
Areebi joined NXT developmental back in March, with her only on-air appearance coming at “NXT Takeover: Unstoppable” as part of Tyler Breeze’s entrance.
Editor’s Note
WWE officials clearly did a thorough search into the history of the tweets, ultimately determining that she was not the one behind them. Company image is everything, which is why Schreiber – who is currently dating WWE World Heavyweight and United States Champion Seth Rollins – got axed so quickly. Matters like this must be handled with the utmost care.
