In his first match ever for World Wrestling Entertainment, Sting entered Levi’s Stadium on March 29 at WrestleMania 31 to go one-on-one with “The Game” Triple H.
After interference from both D-Generation X and members of the New World Order, Sting ultimately fell to the WWE COO after taking a vicious shot to the head with a sledgehammer.
According to a report by PWInsider.com, WWE officials have not yet decided whether Sting will ever compete for the company again or not.
The inclusion of NWO members Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall would make one assume that they were present to send off Sting, but that’s not yet confirmed at this time.
He recently teased in an interview that WrestleMania 31 could be his last match, via The Associated Press:
“I’m feeling like this is probably going to be my last one. We’ll see how everyone reacts. If I’m asked to do one more at Survivor Series or maybe even WrestleMania next year, at this point, I would consider it. But realistically, this is going to be my last one.”
Sting will be present when “Monday Night Raw” airs on March 30, live from the SAP Center in San Jose.
If his bout with HHH was indeed his last, that would take a rumored confrontation with Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 off the table.
Editor’s Note
I’m still floored that Sting lost at WrestleMania 31. No one on the staff picked such a result. It seemed like such a sure thing that he’d emerge victorious in his first WWE action. I hope that’s not the only memory we’ll have of Sting at WrestleMania.
