At the Ring of Honor vs. New Japan Pro Wrestling event “War of the Worlds” in New York City on May 17, Kevin Steen was defeated by Shinsuke Nakamura.
Prior to the show, Steen tweeted out the following on his personal Twitter account (@FightSteenFight):
“@TheFrayMovement: Where you going? RT @FightSteenFight: One last time, New York City… #HammerSTEEN” Home.

Steen cut a promo following his match with Nakamura, telling the fans that he “hasn’t felt at home” since losing the ROH World Championship. He also mentioned that it was time for him to say goodbye so that he could spend more time with his newborn child.
An angle with fellow ROH star Silas Young was then set into motion, perhaps indicating that Steen’s last match with the company could be against Young at the “Best in the World” pay-per-view in June.
“Mr. Wrestling” impressed a lot of officials during his tryout with NXT. There have been no further details as to if an offer by WWE has been sent to Steen or if he’d even accept one in the first place.
This could be an elaborate storyline for ROH, but until we know more, the future of Steen will be clouded in mystery.
Editor’s Note
Steen is one of the hottest commodities on the independent wrestling scene. WWE/NXT would be wise to lock him up (even though he may not have the appropriate look or physique), although Steen may decide to stay with ROH if that’s what makes him happy. Only time will tell.
