With CM Punk having not appeared on WWE television since the “Royal Rumble” special event back in January, many fans are wondering if the Straight-Edge Superstar will be a playable character in the upcoming WWE 2K15 video game.
Rosters in the series have a tendency to be behind the times because of the timing of certain superstars debuts not matching up with the development of the game.
A perfect example of this would be Bray Wyatt and The Wyatt Family not appearing in WWE 2K14, despite the characters being near the top of the card at the time of the release.
In a recent interview with Owen S. Good of Polygon.com, WWE 2K15’s executive producer Mark Little was asked over the phone about the roster in the game and which superstars we may or may not be seeing.
Of course, CM Punk’s name came up, forcing Little to beat around the bush:
Little: “In honesty, some of that has to do with licensing and rights and stuff like that.”
Good: “Sure, but, I mean, the folks we’re seeing every night, we’re going to see in here. With the exception of maybe CM Punk.”
Little: [pause] “Talkin’ about rosters later.”
Good: “Oh. Oh … Oh? Is this a work?”
Little: “I work on the WWE now; you shouldn’t know what to expect.”
WWE 2K15 is set for a Oct. 28 release date in North America.
Editor’s Note
Even though I’d love to use Punk as a playable character, I’m sure WWE will do everything they can to keep him as far away from the game as possible.
