Courtesy of an exclusive report from Justin LaBar at Wrestlezone.com, there are ongoing talks backstage at WWE over possibly having a title unification match take place at WWE “SummerSlam” on Aug. 17.

The bout in question would have The Miz take on Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus in a Triple Threat match. Both the Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship would be on the line with the winner snagging both titles.

The last time the Intercontinental and United States titles were unified was at “Survivor Series in 2001 when Edge defeated Test.

The Miz became WWE Intercontinental Champion at “Battleground” in a Battle Royal, last eliminating Ziggler. The two have engaged in a series of matches ever since.

It was reported recently that Sheamus had been away from the ring since the aforementioned pay-per-view because he was battling the flu, however, recent photos seem to dispute those claims.

A new “Star Wars” film is currently shooting in Ireland where several residents have spotted Sheamus wandering about over the past week. That has even sparked rumors over “The Celtic Warrior” possibly playing Darth Vader in the movie.

Editor’s Note

I’m all for a title unification at “SummerSlam,” although Sheamus’ absence from television would lead me to believe that a Miz vs. Ziggler Intercontinental Championship match is far more likely at this point.
