The King of the Mountain match is an original concept from TNA Wrestling that’s been a staple of the company for many years.
Now, TNA has decided to grant that stipulation bout it’s very own championship.
Seriously.
ImpactWrestling.com has confirmed that the King of the Mountain match at TNA “Slammiversary” on June 28 will be to crown the very first TNA King of the Mountain champion:
The twists and turns continue as it relates to Slammiversary and the return of The King of The Mountain Match. Last night we announced who will be competing and you heard from Bobby Roode, Matt Hardy, Eric Young, Drew Galloway and even Jeff Jarrett. Now we can announce that those competing Sunday will be competing for The BRAND New King of The Mountain Championship!
What does this mean for the future? What does it mean if, Jeff Jarrett, The Founder of Global Force Wrestling wins The King of The Mountain Championship?
Don’t miss Slammiversary on Sunday, exclusively on Pay Per View to find out.
Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle are the only TNA stars to have multiple KOTM match victories on their resume.
A possible reason for the championship being created is Angle, who’s currently the TNA World Heavyweight Champion, won’t be making a title defense at the only pay-per-view of the year for the company. Perhaps the belt will draw more intrigue to compensate.
Editor’s Note
………….come on. This is just silly and unnecessary. Did Dixie Carter not learn anything from the TNA Global/Legends/Television/Fill in the Blank Championship?
