According to an exclusive report by WrestlingInc.com, Rey Mysterio will be backstage when “Monday Night Raw” goes live on Nov. 3 in Buffalo, New York.
Vince McMahon had apparently told those in his inner circle of the news.
It has yet to be determined if Mysterio will be used on the show in some capacity, although the WWE creative team is actively working on ways to reintroduce him to the audience.
His contract with World Wrestling Entertainment will expire on April 15, 2015.
Mysterio has let it be known that he’s burned out and is looking to take time off away from wrestling once he fulfills the remainder of his contract.
Previous reports had Mysterio eventually heading to AAA in Mexico or Lucha Underground, especially after he appeared backstage at one of Underground’s tapings.
“He’s been doing this for over 20 years and between the injuries and the mental burn out, he has no interest in AAA, Underground or re-upping with WWE,” a source told WrestlingInc.com.
His contract with WWE was renewed back in June against his will. Those within the company felt he owed them more dates after being away from the ring for as long as he was with knee problems.
Editor’s Note
Considering the wear and tear that Mysterio’s body has been through, this last run (if that’s what it is) with WWE needs to be handled carefully. You can’t put him near the forefront of programming because there’s no way of knowing if he can sustain long enough to be a major player again.
