One of the hot topics heading into WWE “Battleground” on Sunday is the possible return of “The Icon” Sting, who Dave Meltzer of “Wrestling Observer Radio” believes could be making his first appearance since competing at WrestleMania 31.
“That’s where Sting fits in too,” says Meltzer.
Sting’s current plans for WWE “SummerSlam” in Brooklyn this August will involve Wyatt in some capacity, although those plans are obviously subject to change.
Luke Harper, who remains without anything to do with tag team partner Erick Rowan on the sidelines with a torn biceps injury, could also insert himself into the Reigns vs. Wyatt match at “Battleground.”
The Undertaker, who worked with Wyatt at WrestleMania 31 at Levi’s Stadium, is also rumored to be appearing on the pay-per-view, although his presence will likely be felt during the night’s main event.
Editor’s Note
A Sting vs. Bray Wyatt match is very intriguing indeed. Many believe “Battleground” will be used to set up a Sting vs. Undertaker bout for “SummerSlam,” but that probably won’t be the case. If that’s the route WWE wants to go, Sting will need at least one victory on his resume before entering the dream match with Taker.
