Give credit where credit is due to “The Vigilante” Sting, because even though he’s a part-time performer, the former WCW Champion has found a way to show up on television every week leading up to his big title match.
While he didn’t appear in the middle of the squared circle, the 56-year-old performer did work a number of backstage segments (which may have been pre-taped) on “Raw” this week, taunting Seth Rollins with his stolen statue.
The show ultimately ended with Sting tossing the statue in a dumpster truck, riding off as Rollins threw a temper tantrum in the ring.
At WWE “Night of Champions” on Sept. 20 in Houston, Sting will challenge Rollins one-on-one for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in just his second match for the company. The six-time WCW Champion competed at WrestleMania 32, losing his in-ring debut to WWE COO Triple H.
Editor’s Note
More Sting is always a good thing. WWE could probably roll with more interaction between Rollins and John Cena if Sting couldn’t work, but the fact that he can is definitely a positive. Even at his age, Sting should forth one heck of an effort against the younger, more mobile Rollins at the pay-per-view.
