According to a report by F4WOnline.com, New Japan Pro Wrestling star Prince Devitt may be on his way to World Wrestling Entertainment after WrestleMania 30 weekend.
NJPW has booked a match between Devitt and Ryusuke Taguchi for Sunday, April 6 at their Invasion Attack 2014 internet pay-per-view in Tokyo. The loser of the match will have to leave the company, leading many to believe that Devitt could be heading back to North American soil.
The report indicates that Devitt did not sign a contract with NJPW back in January, so the possibility of joining WWE is very much an option.
We here at WrestlingRumors.net reported on March 23 that former TNA Heavyweight Champion A.J. Styles had signed with NJPW and was set to make his debut in April. There’s a feeling within the company that Styles was brought in to replace Devitt as their stop star, although it wouldn’t be as a member of their top faction, The Bullet Club.
Editor’s Note
I’ve been a huge backer of Prince Devitt for quite some time and am genuinely happy to hear the news that we may be seeing him on WWE television in the near future. He’s a tremendous athlete with a great build who can move well around the ring. Devitt also (occasionally) uses some of the most unique face and body paint I’ve ever seen in my life. It has to be seen to be believed.
He’s relatively small (billed at 5’11” and 179 pounds) and 32 years old, so that could hold him back on the big stage. I’m excited to hear how this all plays out and am hoping for the best.
