The fate of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship will be determined later tonight on “Monday Night Raw.” Stephanie McMahon has ordered Daniel Bryan to appear on the show and relinquish his belt.
However, according to a report from The Wrestling Observer, we may not see a new champion crowned (if Bryan is indeed stripped) until the “Money in the Bank” special event on June 29.
The plan would be for the MITB Ladder match to be for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship instead of a briefcase for a future title shot.
“WWE Payback” on June 1 is essentially booked, so it looks like we won’t be having a championship match on the card.
Editor’s Note
The “WWE Money in the Bank” special event is less than a month away, so it’s not as if the company couldn’t survive without a champion until then. It would be a shame to see Bryan stripped of the gold tonight, but if he needs to miss more time due to his neck surgery, that’s the only logical step to take. If the MITB Ladder match were to be for the belt, could we possibly see two Ladder matches on the show?
