Another tag team competitor is now on the shelf for a prolonged period of time for World Wrestling Entertainment.
WWE published the following statement on June 22, confirming that Erick Rowan had suffered an injury:
“Erick Rowan sustained an injury at Friday night’s Live Event in Saginaw, Mich., and he is in the process of undergoing medical evaluation.”
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter later confirmed that Rowan had injured his arm and that it was believed to be “serious and significant.”
Rowan has suffered a torn biceps that will keep him out of action for at least four months, if he elects to avoid having surgery, Mike Killam of Wrestlezone.com reports.
A decision will reportedly be made in the coming weeks regarding surgery, but if Rowan goes under the knife, he will undoubtedly miss the remainder of 2015.
Rowan and Luke Harper were about to receive a major push in the division, but those plans will obviously have to be put on hold.
As Killam notes, a slew of credible WWE talent are currently out with a plethora of injuries, including Rusev, Tyson Kidd, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn, Hideo Itami, Alex Riley, Daniel Bryan, and now Rowan.
Editor’s Note
Another one bites the dust, it seems. Terrible timing for Rowan, but getting hurt is never convenient regardless of when it happens.
