One of the major selling points for the WWE Network when it first debuted was being able to watch classic footage/matches/pay-per-view events.
While the Network does feature all of that to a high degree, WWE hasn’t updated the library in quite some time, leaving some fans wanting more.
According to F4WOnline.com, the reason why WWE isn’t in a rush to update its classic footage on the Network is because “almost nobody watches it.”
The report notes that the most popular programs on the Network are the specials and airings of NXT.
The recent documentary on Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31, as well as Chris Jericho’s interview/live podcast with Stephanie McMahon, were the most watched programs this past week. It’s also said that Jerry Springer’s “Too Hot for TV” special and old episodes of WWE “Tough Enough” from 2011 grew high viewership as well.
Editor’s Note
It’s hard for me to go too in-depth on the Network as I only use it/subscribe to it during months when I want to watch a specific pay-per-view. I was never able to access the online database, so that sucked. Either way, I’d probably be in the demographic that only watches the live specials and NXT. Classic footage? You can find most of that on YouTube anyway.
