At TNA “Slammiversary” on June 28, James Storm and Magnus are scheduled to face each other one-on-one.
That will be one of the final appearances for the two competitors, though, as both Storm and Magnus have recently announced that they will be leaving TNA Wrestling.
Storm reportedly asked for his release a week before the pay-per-view, which TNA management was more than happy to grant. Magnus will now head over to Jeff Jarrett’s Global Force Wrestling promotion and work there.
PWInsider.com reports that both men requested their releases because they were unhappy with the amount of money they were making with so many dates being cut back. Storm and Magnus have other work opportunities elsewhere, so with more money on the table outside of TNA, their decision was an obvious one.
There is said to be no hard feelings on either side, as TNA will open the door for Storm and Magnus to make returns down the road if they so choose.
The company is well aware that World Wrestling Entertainment could sign them, but it’s a chance they’re willing to take due to the respect they have for both guys.
Samuel Shaw, Low-Ki and Gunner are also leaving TNA Wrestling, as well.
Editor’s Note
It’s all about money at the end of the day. With TNA not running house shows and pay-per-views being cut back to just one a year, it’s hard to defend sticking around when opportunities to cash in just aren’t there.
