On the Feb. 28 edition of “Friday Night SmackDown,” Batista completed his heel turn with an in-ring promo, telling the WWE Universe that he didn’t return to be liked. All he wants is to be WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
According to a report by PWInsider.com, his heel turn was actually supposed to take place on “Monday Night RAW” on Feb. 24.
The original plan was for Randy Orton to interrupt Batista’s match on RAW against Alberto Del Rio, costing him a victory. The Apex Predator would then go on to talk about how the WWE Universe likes him more than they do Batista, causing The Animal to voice his displeasure on the microphone, turning him heel in the process.
Orton would then be credited with “Unleashing The Beast.”
That idea was eventually scrapped in favor of the turn taking place on SmackDown.
There were even plans of a heel turn slowly being teased over several weeks, but due to the reaction Batista had been getting from live crowds, the company decided to pull the trigger right away.
