According to TMZSports.com, television and movie personality Mr. T will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2014.
Mr. T was involved in the main event of the inaugural WrestleMania, teaming with the legendary Hulk Hogan against “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff. He also competed against Piper in a special boxing match at WrestleMania 2.
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon had this to say about the induction:
His WWE appearances were instrumental in helping to establish WrestleMania as the pop-culture phenomenon it is today.
In 2009, Mr. T turned down an offer from the company to join the celebrity wing of the Hall of Fame because he was insulted that Pete Rose was inducted before he was, via Ringside UK:
WWE asked me to be in the Hall of Fame and I turned it down. You know why? They put Pete Rose in the wrestling Hall of Fame. This guy can’t even get into his own Hall of Fame.
They put him in and he only did one WrestleMania, and he didn’t even wrestle.
I was the only one (celebrity) who really wrestled.
The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will air on the WWE Network on April 5, which is the night before WrestleMania 30.
There is no word yet on who will induct him, but with Hogan back in World Wrestling Entertainment, he would seem like a safe bet.
UPDATE: WWE officially announces Mr. T as a WWE Hall of Fame inductee! The announcement came from WWE’s official Twitter account on March 17 saying,
