In a recent interview with the UK Daily Record, former WWE superstar Drew McIntyre (now known as Drew Galloway) discussed his release by World Wrestling Entertainment, his relationship with ex-wife Taryn Terrell and much more.
Here are some of the highlights:
His reaction to being released by WWE
It was a shock because I was already booked to continue performing on TV and touring all over the world.
Taryn Terrell potentially hurting his standing with the company
There are always behind-the-scenes politics in any job.
I pride myself on being a nice guy and hope the things that have been blown way out of proportion didn’t hurt me and my career.
A lot of what you hear and see on the internet is nonsense. A lot of people are really vocal about my talent – and that’s what’s most important.
Building his own brand
I have an opportunity to be the biggest wrestler outside of the WWE and I won’t be happy unless I’m a big brand.
“It’s not a case of if I’ll be back with the WWE, it’s a case of when.
Working independent shows
There’s a three-month period after my release where I can’t wrestle on TV. But I can do live shows and I can’t wait to come home.
It’ll be the start of me showing my talents around the globe outside of the WWE.
I’m not there just to make up the numbers, I’m there to eat them.
And it’d be great if I can help British and European wrestling grow at the same time.
Editor’s Note
The 3MB gimmick held McIntyre back from really shining on the main roster. Returning to WWE is always a possibility, but he’s truly going to have to salvage his reputation and get back to what made him such a promising young star in the first place.
