WWE superstar and former World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan appeared on “Sports Illustrated Now” Monday afternoon via phone call.
During the segment, Bryan gave an update on his injury status and whether he’ll able to compete at WrestleMania 31 next year.
He said that he’s unable to return to the ring because he still hasn’t regained strength in his right hand. That could be extremely dangerous for himself and his opponents moving forward.
On a positive note, Bryan noted that he’s not in any pain, although doctors are struggling to come up with ways to help him regain his strength.
As far as WrestleMania 31 is concerned, Bryan said that he’d be heartbroken if he can’t compete at the big show. He’s hoping that he’ll be good to go by then, but if he can’t , he’ll be very disappointed.
Although an announcement was made during the Oct. 28 “Friday Night SmackDown” tapings about Bryan needing another surgery, that was not made apparent during the interview.
If he does need a reported Tommy John Surgery, that could extend his recovery time into March of next year.
Editor’s Note
There’s no denying that Daniel Bryan was WWE’s biggest star in 2013 and early 2014. The sooner he returns, the better. Here’s hoping he doesn’t rush his rehab quicker than he needs to, though. The fate of his career could be riding on how these next four months go.
