In a breaking story from SESScoops.com, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan has been told by doctors that he will not be medically cleared to compete for the “WWE Money in the Bank” special event on June 29 in Boston.
Because of this heartbreaking news, Bryan will be forced to surrender his WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
The ‘Money in the Bank’ Ladder match will now be for the belts.
A recent neck surgery has kept Bryan out of action since “WWE Extreme Rules.” If he were healthy enough to wrestle, he would have defended against Kane in a Stretcher match.
As of this writing, only Alberto Del Rio is confirmed for the match. Several other qualifying matches will take place later tonight on “Monday Night Raw.”
WWE is considering adding a second Ladder match to the event so that a briefcase and potential championship match can still be up for grabs.
Bryan defeated both Randy Orton and Batista at WrestleMania XXX for his third-reign as WWE Champion.
He will meet Stephanie McMahon later tonight on “Monday Night Raw” to address his health status. Bryan will likely surrender his championship as well.
Editor’s Note
After such a strong end to 2013 and an even better beginning 2014, it seems like everything is crashing down around Bryan. If he needs more time to recover from his recent neck surgery, he should take it. No need to risk the rest of his career so that he can make a couple of upcoming dates. He’ll be back in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture soon enough.
