Former TNA superstar AJ Styles became the new IWGP World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Kazuchika Okada at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s annual “Wrestling Dontaku” event earlier today in Fukuoka, Japan.

He won the belt after delivering a Styles Clash finisher to Okada, becoming the 60th champion in history. Yujiro Takahashi, a former stablemate of Okada’s in the CHAOS faction, ran in and turned on his former ally, joining Styles and his Bullet Club group.
Styles will now defend the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at an upcoming ROH-New Japan show in New York against Michael Elgin.
Editor’s Note
I hate to bring up TNA Wrestling for the 1000th time, but Styles appears to be a lot more content in his new place of employment than he was at Universal Studios. Congratulations to the new IWGP Champion!
