RAW’s Midcard Scene is Languishing, Thanks to Roman Reigns

On next week’s Monday Night RAW, Roman Reigns will actually be defending the US title! Don’t get too excited, though, because it will be against both Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho. You know, Kevin Owens, the guy who is currently the Universal Champion, and who Reigns is fighting for that title at Royal Rumble.

Yes, even though he’s currently the US champ, and likely won’t lose it on Monday. Reigns has consistently been fighting with Owens and Jericho in recent weeks, leaving the US title a complete afterthought. This is a problem, because it leaves the RAW midcard in a real no man’s land.

At the top of the card, we’ve been seeing Owens, Reigns, Jericho, and Seth Rollins fighting repeatedly against each other, and basically just each other. Then, you have a few tag teams, and the women’s division, which is basically just Charlotte versus Bayley, after just being Sasha versus Charlotte for a while.

The US title could be used to give the men in the midcard on RAW something to do. Instead, they are left with basically nothing.

What’s Sami Zayn really supposed to do? He fights Braun Strowman, and that’s fine, but Strowman seems destined to be getting involved in the main event seen soon. Rusev and Big Cass are left to feud because of Enzo more than anything between themselves. Obviously, not everybody can be competing for a title, but RAW is three hours long, and they have basically nothing going on in the midcard. Reigns is in the Universal Championship scene, but he also just so happens to hold the US title. It’s not helping him. It’s not necessary. Basically, if you aren’t one of the big four men on RAW, you might as well not exist.
