WrestleMania 31 is just a week away, occurring live from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Sunday, March 23. With the entire presumed pay-per-view match card for the pay-per-view set, it appeared that all WWE would need to add was a match for its WrestleMania Kickoff pre-show. WWE would do just that, as advertisements for the WrestleMania Kickoff on the WWE Network revealed the first match to occur at WrestleMania 31.
As fans have speculated for weeks, Cesaro and Tyson Kidd will look to successfully retain their WWE Tag Team Championship during the WrestleMania Kickoff, which begins at 5 p.m. EST. A WWE Network advertisement for the WrestleMania Kickoff reads as follows:
“WWE Superstars pay tribute to WrestleMania Live from Levi’s Stadium, featuring an exclusive WWE Tag Team Championship match.”
The advertisement was slightly altered, as it originally noted that Cesaro and Tyson Kidd would be defending their titles against The Usos, The New Day, and Los Mataodres. However, WWE is likely not ready to confirm the combatants in the match due to the injury status of Jey Uso. On March 16, it was revealed that the former WWE Tag Team Champion had surgery for a shoulder injury, putting his status for WrestleMania 31 in doubt.
Editor’s Note
Not too surprising. It was only a matter of time before WWE announced its pre-show match for the tag titles. Hopefully Jey Uso is well enough to compete in the match.
