Over the past couple of months, there were rampant rumors that Vince Russo was working with TNA as a creative consultant. While Russo did deny the reports, in the middle of July, word began to spread that the rumors were indeed true. This led to Russo revealing that he was indeed working with TNA, as a consultant to the commentary team of Mike Tenay and Taz. Russo had tried to keep this information confidential due to a request from TNA for him to not speak about his role.
On Wednesday, July 30, Vince Russo took to Twitter (@pyroballyhoo) to announce that he would be leaving TNA.
On Twitter, the former WWF/WCW head writer noted that he declined a suggestion from TNA for him to take a break:

Later on in the day, Russo will take to his new website, PyroandBallyhoo.com, to discuss the matter further.
At the moment, TNA is in a precarious position. There are rumors that Spike has cancelled “Impact Wrestling,” as it will not renew its contract with TNA in October. While it appears that will be the case, both Spike and TNA have maintained that negotiations are ongoing. TNA even went as far to warn its talent that all rumors out there are false.
Editor’s Note
This is yet another boneheaded move by TNA’s upper management, probably Dixie Carter. The company is trying to save face with Spike by telling Russo to “take a break.” Meanwhile, in reality, Russo should receive very little, if any, blame for Spike canceling “Impact Wrestling.” He was brought on while TNA was a sinking ship.
