As seen on the October 7 edition of Monday Night Raw, it was announced that Rob Van Dam will be taking time off from the WWE because he is not 100% both “mentally and spiritually.” In addition to the announcement on Monday Night Raw, WWE.com has noted that Van Dam announced his decision to take time off in an exclusive interview after WWE Battleground. This interview will be featured on the DVD for the pay-per-view.

The stage was set for Van Dam to take some time off after his loss to Alberto Del Rio in a Hardcore Match at the inagural Battleground pay-per-view. This update on Van Dam’s future in WWE may help identify his contract status with WWE. As we previously noted, there are a number of rumors surfacing about Van Dam’s WWE contract status. With WWE mentioning Van Dam on both television and its website, it appears that Van Dam will simply be taking 90 days off from the company. This would set up for Van Dam to return for WreslteMania season.
