Rob Van Dam has been out of action for the past couple of weeks due to an apparent injury, which caused him to be removed from the Intercontinental Championship battle royal at “Battleground.” In the match that would eventually be won by The Miz, Van Dam was replaced by Damien Sandow.
It appeared that Van Dam would be making his return to the ring on the Aug. 4 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” as he was slated to face Seth Rollins in the main event. However, upon making his entrance, Van Dam would be replaced by Heath Slater, per The Authority.
The match was part of a Beat the Clock Challenge, in which Seth Rollins needed to best Dean Ambrose’s previous time of 15:42. The winner of the challenge would get to pick the stipulation for the bout between the two at “SummerSlam.” This stipulation has already been revealed. (contains spoilers)
According to a recent report by PWInsider, Van Dam has still not been cleared to wrestle, as of the showing of “Monday Night Raw.” Additionally, not much is even known about what kind of injury “RVD” is suffering from.
Despite the injury, Van Dam is going on WWE’s tour of Australia:

Previous reports stated that Van Dam would be around until “SummerSlam.” However, with Van Dam likely missing two pay-per-view events in the row, it’s unknown if WWE will have him stick around upon healing from injury.
Editor’s Note
Hopefully Van Dam gets well soon, and can make an in-ring return, heading to “Night of Champions.”
