As previously reported on Tuesday, March 31, it was revealed that WWE and long-time developmental talent CJ Parker mutually parted ways. Parker was granted a release from his WWE contract on Saturday, March 28, during WrestleMania weekend. The split was amicable, as Parker was allowed to wrestle his final matches for WWE and its NXT brand during WrestleMania Axxess.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, more information surrounding CJ Parker’s WWE departure is revealed. According to Dave Meltzer of the newsletter, Parker wanted a release due to frustrations of likely not making the main WWE roster. Parker had worked in WWE’s various developmental territories since 2011, and he could see the writing on the wall.
Upon WWE granting Parker his release, the company reportedly told him that it would welcome him back with open arms. He is said to be very well-liked by his peers and former coworkers, who said their goodbyes to Parker at WWE’s post-WrestleMania party on Sunday, March 29.
Finally, Meltzer noted that CJ Parker, real name Joe Robinson, is looking to land a job in New Japan Pro Wrestling. He is focused on continuing his wrestling career, and believes he can make a name for himself in NJPW.
Editor’s Note
Best of luck to Parker landing a position in NJPW, where he can hopefully find great success.
