WWE would tape the final piece of WWE programming prior to the inaugural “Fastlane” pay-per-view on Tuesday, Feb. 17. At the BB&T Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, WWE taped the Feb. 19 showing of “Smackdown.”
During this edition of “Smackdown,” a singles match between two former tag team partners was announced for “Fastlane.” Brothers Stardust and Goldust will compete against each other in a singles match for the first time in their WWE careers.
The feud between the two brothers has continued to progress throughout the past couple of weeks of WWE programming. On the Feb. 16 showing of “Monday Night Raw,” their father, Dusty Rhodes, appeared on the program in an attempt to make peace. Instead, Stardust would end up completing his heel turn on Goldust, taking him out with “Cross Rhodes.”
The Rhodes brothers had been working as a tag team since the 2013 showing of “Battleground” in October, which saw the two storyline obtain WWE talent jobs. Since then, the duo won the WWE Tag Team Championship on two separate occasions. The second occasion saw the two win the tag titles with Cody Rhodes portraying his Stardust character.
The inaugural “Fastlane” pay-per-view airs live on Feb. 22, broadcast from Memphis, Tennessee, at the FedEx Forum.
