As we previously reported, WWE is going all-out by contacting every “megastar” from the past three decades for WrestleMania XXX. This year’s edition of WWE’s grand spectacle is the 30th annual WrestleMania, making it perhaps the most historic WrestleMania to date.
In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the names of some of these past WWE Superstars are revealed. WWE reportedly contacted Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Jim Ross, and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper to appear in some capacity for WrestleMania.
Regarding The Rock, the feeling within WWE is that The Rock will be on the show in some form of a cameo. However, it is not known whether his appearance will be live or taped. Despite uncertainty on what type of appearance Rock may have, people in WWE are adamant that he will appear in some capacity.
Additionally, in the past, WWE pitched ideas to “Stone Cold” Steve Austin regarding an appearance. As we have noted, Austin has stated that he will be in New Orleans, the site of WrestleMania XXX. With Austin in New Orleans, there has been speculation that he may have accepted one of WWE’s proposals for the event.
Editor’s Note
We’ll have to wait and see if Rock and Austin do indeed appear at WrestleMania XXX in some capacity, but it would make the event seem a lot more important and memorable if either of the two appear.
