About two weeks ago, news got out that Spike would be canceling “Impact Wrestling,” effective in October. Upon the initial reports, both companies have denied any such thing, claiming negotiations are still ongoing. On the side of TNA, upper management informed all of its talent that any rumors in regards to the situation are false.

However, despite the effort from both sides, it still appears that Spike will not be renewing its contract with TNA. Ever since the story broke, there have been many theories as to what caused Spike to not want to keep “Impact Wrestling,” a show which brought in roughly one million viewers.

Many believed that it all had to do with Vince Russo, due to rumors that Spike did want him on board. Russo recently left TNA, shortly after word got out about Spike wanting to cancel “Impact Wrestling.” Russo had been secretly working as a creative consultant, and was not allowed to talk about his role for the company per TNA officials. While many placed blame on Russo, it continues to look like he was not at fault.

Wrestlezone.com has published a report as to the real reason why Spike will not renew its deal with TNA. Justin Labar and the “Chair Shot Reality” team report that Spike wanted 10 percent ownership in TNA. However, Dixie Carter refused to give up part of her ownership, preventing Spike from becoming share owners of the company.

Editor’s Note

Unreal. When TNA folds, it will be a big loss to the industry. However, continued incompetence and stubbornness from Dixie Carter makes me not feel much sorrow about the situation. That shouldn’t be the case.
